About
It has been a long time since we have heard anything from Amy Lee and her Evanescence – far too long. But now, the erstwhile chart toppers are reporting back – more powerfully, melodious and orchestral than ever. The new album ‘Synthesis’ is due for release in the autumn of 2017, followed by a major world tour.
It all began in the early 1990s at a Christian youth camp in the town of Little Rock in Arkansas, USA. The two early teenagers Amy Lee and Ben Moody together interpreted songs by Meat Loaf and others, leading initially to regular reunions, then a band, a few EPs and by the end of the 90s to their first album. Things didn’t really get started though until 2003 with the release of their album ‘Fallen’ and the hit singles ‘Bring Me to Life’ and ‘My Immortal’, both of which reached the top 10 in the US charts. MTV and Grammy Awards rained in and ‘Fallen’ has sold over 15 million copies to date. Their follow-up albums ‘The Open Door’ (2006) and ‘Evanescence’ (2011) have been top sellers.
However, overnight success was also accompanied by unsettled times for the band. Firstly, their co-founder Moody split from the combo, then over the years other band members have been replaced. But the quiescent rock, heart and soul of Evanescence is and remains Amy Lee with her unparalleled voice and unmistakeable piano style.
The new album ‘Synthesis’, includes not only new songs but also symphonic reinterpretations of older hits. With its new sound and fascinating stage show, the Synthesis tour promises to be a unique sensual experience.
