Weezer ist eine amerikanische Rockband, die 1992 in Los Angeles gegründet wurde, bestehend aus den Mitgliedern Rivers Cuomo (Leadgesang, Leadgitarre), Patrick Wilson (Schlagzeug), Brian Bell (Rhythmusgitarre, Backing Vocals, Keyboards) und Scott Shriner (Bass, Backing Vocals).

Weezer haben in den USA mehr als 10 Millionen und weltweit über 35 Millionen Tonträger verkauft. Zu ihrem Katalog gehören Megahits wie "Buddy Holly", "Undone (The Sweater Song)", "Say It Ain't So" oder "Beverly Hills". Weezer haben im Laufe ihrer Karriere Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards und andere Auszeichnungen gewonnen.

2018 veröffentlichten Weezer ein von Fans inspiriertes Cover von Totos "Africa", welches die Band zurück in die Charts katapultierte und Weezer ihre fünfte Nummer #1 in den Alternative Radio Charts sowie eine Top 5 Platzierung in den Hot AC Chart bescherte. Das Album hat inzwischen Platinstatus erreicht. 2021 folgten die sehr unterschiedlichen beiden Alben "OK Human", ein orchestrales Pop-Album und "Van Weezer", eine Hommage an die gemeinsamen Metal-Wurzeln der Bandmitglieder. Die erste Single von "OK Human", "All My Favorite Songs", war einer der grössten Rockhits des Jahres 2021 und wurde für einen Grammy in der Kategorie "Bester Rocksong" nominiert.

Im Mai 2024 feierten Weezer das 30-jährige Jubiläum des kultigen, von der Kritik gelobten, selbstbetiteltem Debütalbums "Weezer (The Blue Album)". Dieses Jubiläum wurde nicht nur mit der Veröffentlichung des "Weezer 30 (Anniversary Super Deluxe)"-Albums zelebriert, sondern auch mit der Ankündigung einer neuen Tournee.
