Created in 1929, the Swiss Basketball Federation | Swiss Basketball(Opens in new tab) is responsible for organizing, directing and regulating the basketball in Switzerland. It is also responsible for the development and promotion, in particular through the following events:
This was followed in 1932 by the founding of FIBA (International Federation of Amateur Basketball - Fédération Internationale de Basketball Amateur) in Geneva.
Since 2005, the Swiss national men's basketball team has participated in the Division B championships and in the qualifying tournaments for the Division A European championships.
